Laptop DC Socket Repair - Cambridge, Huntingdon & St Ives
The laptop DC power jack plug is one of the most common items to fail on a laptop!
Contact I.T. Solutions if your laptop has any of these symptoms:
- Laptop randomly shuts down without any warning.
- Power LED and battery charge LED start flickering when you wiggle the power cord or the AC tip on the back of your laptop.
- The battery will not get charged.
- When you plug AC adapter, the laptop appears to be dead and there is no LED activity (DC jack on the system board is broken).
The DC jack's are usually too weak to stand up to the stresses of moving the laptop while the power cord is connected and break. In some cases detaching themselves from the main board altogether. the AC power adapter can no longer supply power so the battery supplies power until it dies. Most service centres don't perform this repair, due to lack of experience and proper equipment. We have done much testing with DC sockets and developed a way to secure the socket to the motherboard and make sure it stays! Once solder the mounting points we use an epoxy resin around the outer edge of the plug to make sure we get a good fix to the motherboard, this will minimize movement when the adapter is plugged into it. We have a "no fix - no fee policy"! If your laptop still isn't working after the DC jack has been replaced we won't charge you any sort of diagnostic fee or bench fee.
